May meeting: Unnatural Predators – the Folklore of Fear

We have an unusual topic for May, with an internationally-known speaker.

While we may prefer to think about gods and angels, folklore provides us with plenty of stories about belief in the malign supernatural too. So let’s spend an evening talking about vampires, werewolves and fairies. We’ll be asking:

– Do dogs see ghosts?
– Why do vampires visit in autumn?
– Why do ghosts live in electric clocks?

Deborah Hyde is editor of  The Skeptic magazine. She writes, speaks and broadcasts about belief in the malign macabre at jourdemayne.com.
